TitlePI3K(p110alpha) Atrial Fibrosis and Heart
DescriptionReduced phosphoinositide 3-Kinase [PI3K(p110alpha)] in the heart is associated with various cardiac diseases. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are essential for maintaining normal cardiac function. However, their composition can be altered in pathological conditions, contributing to the progression of cardiovascular pathology. The aim of this study was to examine protein expression, signalling mechanisms, and potential sex-dependent differences from varying degrees of reduced PI3K(p110alpha) activity in the heart. Quantitative proteomics was performed on cardiac-derived EVs from female and male dnPI3K (cardiomyocyte-specific dominant-negative PI3K on a FVBN background: heterozygote dnPI3K (one dnPI3K transgene) and homozygote dnPI3K (two dnPI3K transgenes)) mice aged ~12 weeks.
