Dataset Summary
TitleAn integrated proteome and phospho-proteome approach to study BPA toxicity on placenta.
DescriptionThe environmental exposure of various Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) like Bisphenol-A (BPA), can affect human health by inducing hormonal imbalance important for physiological homeostasis. Pregnant females are more susceptible for BPA mediated toxicity. BPA can reach maternal circulation by ingestion, inhalation or dermal contact from plastic goods or everyday house-hold items, which then crosses the placental barrier and imparts damage on trophoblast cells. This BPA mediated cellular injury directly alters feto-maternal homeostasis disrupting fetal development and growth. The feto-maternal disruption is induced by impaired cellular signaling in placenta, which can also affect the post translational protein phosphorylation patterns. Therefore, this study explores the dynamic proteome change upon BPA exposure which also affects the kinase associated phospho-signatures in both early trimester trophoblast cells and murine placenta. This finding provides an important insight on the mechanism of altered phosphorylation which may drive the BPA associated toxicity in placenta and trophoblast cells contributing towards placenta mediated reproductive disorders.
