| Description | This dataset supports a study describing the first validated liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assay for quantitation of a therapeutic bacteriophage. Bacteriophage therapy is an emerging treatment strategy for drug-resistant bacterial infections, yet the analytical methods available for quantifying phages in biological samples have not kept pace with the demands of clinical drug development. This work addresses that gap by developing a targeted proteomic approach that quantifies a Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteriophage, LUZ19, through detection of a structural capsid protein, providing a host-independent, reproducible, and regulatorily defensible alternative to conventional plaque-based enumeration. The dataset includes discovery proteomics data used for structural protein characterization and signature peptide selection, as well as targeted quantitative mass spectrometry data generated during assay development and validation. This approach establishes a foundation for the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characterization of therapeutic phages and is directly scalable to the simultaneous quantitation of individual phage components within multi-phage cocktails. |
