Title | T3SS effector EseJ regulates PPARγ production to promote bacterial infection |
Description | Type III secretion system is an important virulence system of Edwardsiella piscicida. A large number of type III effectors have been identified, and EseJ is one of them. However, due to its large molecular weight, the mechanism of EseJ in the pathogenesis of E. piscicida is still very limited. In this study, we highlight the importance of EseJ in intracellular colonization of E. piscicida. We also found that the presence of EseJ up-regulated the expression of PPARγ in J774A.1 cells. Moreover, we further analyzed through experiments that the suitable colonization environment created by EseJ is mainly achieved by down-regulating inflammation level, maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis, and controlling mtROS release through the EseJ-PPARγ signal axis. Furthermore, we also screened out candidate proteins that may interact with EseJ through pull-down experiments, which will help us further analyze more members of the EseJ-PPARγ signal axis. Overall, this study expands our understanding of the specific role of EseJ in the pathogenesis of E. piscicida and helps in the development of targeted control measures. |
