Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) is an emerging crop grown for grain, fiber, and essential plant metabolites. Legally, industrial hemp is defined as hemp plant materials that have delta-nine Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of less than 0.3 percent (Farm Bill, 2018). There are three main types of industrial hemp: fiber types that are used for durable fibers and hurd, grain-type used for nutritious grain, and dual-type hemp varieties are used for both grain and fiber, providing more versatility. Despite extensive knowledge about the biochemical properties of hemp seed proteins, there remains a lack of comprehensive information regarding the proteomic profile of mature hemp seed. This study aims to explore the proteomic profile of wildtype and cultivated dual-type and fiber-type industrial hemp proteomics profiles.
