The Drosophila melanogaster multi zinc finger protein hangover (hang) regulates responses to oxidative stress, heat shock and ethanol exposure by modulating transcript levels in adult fly heads. The hangover protein contains no less than 18 C2H2-type zinc fingers. These domains are prevalent among chromatin-regulating proteins, particularly transcription factors, where they typically mediate associations with DNA and transcriptional effectors. Here, we identify hangover-interacting proteins in order to shed light on its molecular function.
