This study examines how sodium chloride treatment affects the proteomic profile in wild-type and syt1 mutant roots. We found many proteins whose abundance was affected by salt stress in both genotypes. However, the abundance of only several proteins was affected by the mutation in SYT1. Together, this motivated us to perform a more detailed molecular biology analysis of the syt1.2 allele. We showed that a shorter sequence was still transcribed; however, the abundance of the truncated SYT1 transcript in the mutant allele was significantly lower in comparison with wild-type plants.
