wzc is a key protein in capsule synthesis, maturation and transport. As a tyrosine autokinase, wzc phosphorylation controls the opening and closing of capsular polysaccharide transport channels by influencing its own polymerization state. Studying the protein expression after wzc point mutation will help us better understand its function.
