Infectious complications negatively impact outcome of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Identification of biomarkers of the mechanisms by which infection may modify the course of stroke could help predict the clinical evolution, and the search for personalized treatments. Investigating the content of immune cell-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs), may provide relevant information in this regard. In this study we investigate the differential expression of proteins in circulating EVs from immune cells in patients with ICH according to the occurrence of infections and to outcomes. The protein content of the immune cells -derived EVs was analyzed by data independent acquisition (SWATH-MS) mass spectrometry. Differential abundance between groups was defined as fold-change ≥2 or ≤0.5 and p≤0.05.
