Updated project metadata. Inflammation leads the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis activation and increased production of glucocorticoids, which produced by the adrenal cortex, exert potent anti-inflammatory effects. The use of omics, including proteomics revealed metabolic changes in steroidogenic adrenocortical cells, including downregulation of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, decreased ATP production and induction of oxidative stress after lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation.
