Eight 10-week-old female K18-hACE2 mice were equally divided into control (n = 4) and virus-infected group (n = 4). Mice in the virus-infected group were challenged with 10^5 median tissue culture infective dose (TCID50) of SARS-CoV-2 virus by intranasal inoculation and mice in the control group were treated with equal volumes of PBS. On 5 days post infection (dpi), all the mice were euthanized and their cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, lung, and kidney were harvested for viral load detection, morphological analysis, and LC-MS-based label-free proteome and phosphoproteome analysis.
