| Description | Fishmeal replacement with plant protein is an important strategy for sustainable aquaculture, although high soybean meal inclusion may impair growth and metabolism in carnivorous fish. This study investigated the hepatic proteomic responses of juvenile hybrid grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus × Epinephelus lanceolatus) fed diets containing 30% or 40% soybean meal, with or without 3% citric acid supplementation, compared with a fishmeal control diet. Liver proteins were extracted and analyzed using label-free LC-MS/MS on a Thermo Scientific Q Exactive Plus mass spectrometer. A total of 1,544 proteins were identified, and differential protein abundance, Gene Ontology enrichment, KEGG pathway analysis, and protein-protein interaction network analyses were performed to investigate metabolic adaptation associated with dietary treatments. The dataset provides molecular insights into hepatic responses to soybean meal replacement and the effect of citric acid supplementation on nutrient utilization and energy metabolism in hybrid grouper. |
