Dataset Summary
TitleComparative peptidomics of four wasp venoms revealing peptide diversity
DescriptionWasp venoms are rich in proteins and peptides with diverse biological functions. In this study, we performed a comparative characterization of venom composition across four wasp species (Vespa mandarinia, Vespa velutina, Vespa basalis, and Provespa barthelemyi). Crude venoms were fractionated by AKTA chromatography, and individual fractions were evaluated by SDS-PAGE to assess protein content. Fractions exhibiting visible protein bands were subjected to in-gel digestion followed by LC–MS/MS protein identification, whereas high-intensity fractions lacking detectable protein bands were analyzed by LC–MS/MS peptidomics. The deposited datasets include raw mass spectrometry files and corresponding identification results from both gel-based protein identification and venom peptidome analyses. These data enable comparative evaluation of peptide diversity and compositional variation among the four wasp venoms.
