Dataset Summary
TitleQuantitative proteomic analysis revealed different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A
DescriptionBisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used industrial chemical found in a variety of consumer products, including plastics, epoxy resins, and thermal paper. Recent studies have raised concerns about the potential adverse health effects of BPA, particularly its role in carcinogenesis. In this study, the toxic effects and its role in carcinogenesis of BPA were investigated in different bladder cancer cell lines (T24 and UMUC cells). Our findings demonstrate that BPA affects cell viability and migration in a dose-dependent manner. Low concentration of BPA significantly promotes cell migration in both T24 and UMUC cells, whereas a high concentration of BPA inhibits cell migration. Proteomics and transcriptomics analysis further revealed significant alterations in the protein and gene expression profiles in T24 and UMUC cells exposed to BPA. Bioinformatic analysis indicates the BPA may influence bladder cancer cell behavior through MAPK signal and inflammation response pathway. These findings collectively provide valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying BPA-induced cellular changes, with implications for the development of more targeted and effective therapeutic strategies for cancer patients. Future research should focus on further elucidating the signaling pathways modulated by BPA, investigating potential synergistic or antagonistic effects with other environmental factors, and validating these findings through in vivo studies.
