Dataset Summary
TitleAdditional roles of protamine kinase SRPK1 in sperm development
DescriptionIn the testis, Serine/arginine protein kinase 1 (SRPK1) and isoform 2 of Serine/threonine-protein phosphatase PP1-gamma catalytic subunit (PP1γ) are essential proteins involved in protamine phosphorylation and dephosphorylation, respectively, and their deregulation is linked to defective chromatin structure and male infertility. The aim of this study was to expand the knowledge on the molecular role of these phosphorylation-modulating proteins through the identification of novel partners in the testis that could support additional roles in proper testicular function. We identified the list of proteins associated with the kinase SRPK1 and the phosphatase PP1γ in adult mouse testis, pointing out additional roles of both proteins regulating essential processes for a proper sperm differentiation.
